Position: Janitor (Steel)

Under ongoing supervision, assists with cleaning the facilities, bathrooms, offices, and the general plant environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General cleaning of the building and keeping it maintained and in good condition.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Cleaning and stock restrooms.
  • Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.
  • Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.
  • Collect and dispose of trash.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Keep cleaning supplies in stock.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Activity:

Up to 2/3 of the time:

  • Standing:
    Remaining upright in a stationary position, particularly for sustained periods.
  • Walking:
    Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site another.
  • Pushing:
    Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward downward or outward.
  • Pulling:
    Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw drag haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Grasping:

  • Climbing:

  • Fingering:
    Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling to remove cleaning cape
  • Feeling Perceiving attributes of objects such as size shape temperature or texture by touching with skin particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking:
    Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately loudly or quickly
