TITLE: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
WORK SCHEDULE: 10 months
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Support Staff Salary Schedule – Group B
- 15.89
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with community volunteers and volunteer groups to facilitate the recruitment and placement of volunteers and to maintain positive community relationships for the maintenance of an on-going volunteer program for the District
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works with the site principal and/or staff to assess the volunteer needs of the school;
- Develops and maintains community, staff and faculty relations necessary for the growth and expansion of the district's volunteer program;
- Assists with developing and administering assessment instruments to evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program;
- Interviews potential volunteers from all segments of the community;
- Places volunteers in positions based upon school needs and individual personalities, qualifications and desires;
- Provides basic orientation and necessary overview of the district for volunteer candidates;
- Maintains accurate and current volunteer applications and information, in conjunction with the District Human Resources Department;
- Serves as a liaison between volunteers and the faculty and staff;
- Develops materials for distribution within the community to publicize the volunteer program;
- Provides positive recognition for and appreciation of all volunteers' contributions;
- Provides assistance with planning and organizing volunteer related school-wide events;
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- One year of experience working in an office environment;
- Positive interpersonal skills to meet, communicate and work with volunteers, faculty, staff and the general public;
- Strong organizational skills necessary to maintain and expand an effective volunteer program;
- Ability to handle confidential information effectively;
- Strong public speaking skills
