Maple Run Unified School District is seeking a dynamic Special Educator for our alternative program with Spring Academy, grades 5-8. The Special Educator is responsible for coordinating and/or providing special education services and accommodations to eligible students in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, policies, procedures, and laws. They ensure students are supported in learning a grade‑appropriate instructional program from an approved curriculum.
They assist in creating a learning environment that supports and motivates learners, fosters personal growth according to each individual’s ability, and helps students develop a solid foundation for continued learning. They maintain effective relationships with students, parents, agency contacts, and other staff members. They collaborate effectively with content areas and other learning‑community colleagues to meet student learning needs.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in working with school students with disabilities required.
- Working knowledge of Special Education state and federal guidelines, regulations and laws essential.
- Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies, accommodations and interventions for students with emotional/behavioral challenges.
- Valid Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement as a Consulting Teacher and/or in Special Education (grades 5‑8).
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $54,700 to $90,450 per year
