NCSS is seeking an Educational Team Leader to join the team at Soar Learning Center. In this role, you’ll provide educational and instructional leadership while supporting a team of teachers, special educators, and other educational staff. You’ll be at the heart of the day-to-day work at Soar, helping ensure students receive high-quality academic and special education programming that is responsive to their individual needs.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys developing staff, collaborating with families and school partners, solving problems, and finding ways to continually strengthen educational programming. You’ll work closely with school leadership and interdisciplinary team members to connect academic, behavioral, clinical, safety, and operational planning, while ensuring that IEP requirements, Vermont standards, and applicable special education regulations are being met.

• Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Soar’s academic and special education programming.
• Ensure curriculum, instruction, IEP services, accommodations, and modifications are implemented consistently and effectively.
• Provide instructional coaching through classroom observations, feedback, modeling, and follow‑up.
• Supervise, support, coach, and develop teachers, special educators, and assigned educational staff.
• Coordinate educational schedules, staffing assignments, coverage, and continuity of instruction.
• Support staff participation in IEP, evaluation, transition, re‑entry, and other student‑planning meetings with families and school districts.
• Oversee educational records, progress reporting, academic assessments, credit documentation, and other required student records.
• Monitor student academic and IEP progress data and use that information to guide instructional decisions and program improvements.
• Collaborate with families, sending school districts, community partners, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Monitor service quality, staff productivity, documentation, and student progress while addressing areas for improvement.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, respectful educational environment where students are treated with dignity and belonging.
• Provide direct academic or special education services, instructional coverage, consultation, or modeling when needed.

Hiring rate is based on experience, education, and internal equity. Final compensation will be determined in accordance with NCSS policy and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a Vermont Special Education license is required. Two or more years of special education teaching experience is strongly recommended. We’re looking for someone with strong communication, leadership, problem‑solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills who can confidently balance the needs of students, families, staff, and school partners.
