Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to lead and support cross‑functional projects within our manufacturing operations at our St. Albans, VT factory. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects that improve process efficiency, implement new equipment or processes, and support product launches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Execute projects such as ice cream packaging line installation, process improvements, plant utilities modifications, refrigeration projects, and civil construction of buildings.
  • Review engineering drawings, align them with Safety, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance teams before finalizing and supervising execution.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and external vendors.
  • Design, specify, and implement manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, risk assessments, and progress reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, process flows, SOPs).
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement engineering solutions to improve reliability and throughput.
  • Track project performance metrics and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead projects using Early Equipment Management (EEM) methodology.
  • Forecast Capex spend and track it.
Skills, Experiences & Qualifications
  • 5‑7 years of experience in project engineering or related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering or capital equipment projects.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Understanding of project management principles, Early Equipment Management, lean manufacturing, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Preferred:
    Familiarity with FDA‑regulated manufacturing and leadership experience.
  • Strong ownership of project outcomes and the ability to navigate unexpected challenges and drive execution.
  • Ability to lead and influence across the organization.
