NMC is currently recruiting a Lead Ultrasound Technologist in Diagnostic Imaging. The position is full-time (80 hours bi-weekly), hours variable between 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Weekends as needed, no more than one weekend per month, holiday rotating on-call 8a-12p. Northwestern Medical Center’s mission is to provide exceptional health care to our community. Lead Technologist

JOB SUMMARY:

Operates imaging equipment to produce quality studies under the supervision of a Radiologist using approved standards and procedures supporting the Diagnostic Imaging department.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Education
:
Graduate of an accredited school of radiography or advanced imaging with current certification in respective modality.

Certifications: BLS required

RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports To: Diagnostic Imaging Manager/Director and Supervisor

SCOPE:

  • Machinery or Equipment Used: Imaging equipment, within their certifications and or registries, digital processing equipment, computers, standard office equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen cylinders and regulators
  • Physical Demands: Occasional: sitting, lifting up to 55 lbs., kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, downward pull and upward push of 50 lbs. Frequent: bending, squatting, stooping, pushing/pulling. Constant: standing & walking
  • Working Conditions: Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and radiant energy hazards, possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. Exposure to crisis situations and unpleasant elements of acute traumatic injuries, occasional stress due to workload and competing priorities. Occasional subject to irregular hours
  • Required Protective Equipment: Plastic/lead aprons (full bib), gloves, gowns, goggles, masks, face shield as situation requires

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs the job description and duties of an Imaging Specialist or Advanced Imaging Specialist (If Applicable):
    Adapts procedures according to protocol to meet the individual needs of the patient, the provider, and the situation. Identifies and performs radiation safety measures according to regulatory agency and policy guidelines. Performs studies in multiple settings (If Applicable: i.e., operating room, pain clinic, etc.) and processes quality images. Provides age specific care. Applies knowledge of expected norms in providing care.

    Applies new data to improve care. Integrates technical, psychological, social, intellectual, and physical skills. Talks with and listens to patients/team members. Appropriately pre-screens patient for any contraindications and obtains patient clinical medical history. Completes timely clinical documentation. Uses all electronic systems to appropriately manage the patient experience. Protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues.
