Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!
Position OverviewThe Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for supporting patients through medically assisted treatments and providing techniques to manage opioid addiction. The counselor facilitates both individual and group sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress throughout the counseling process, and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and fellow counselors to help patients achieve positive overall outcomes.
Responsibilities- Conduct initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
- Facilitate establishment and review with each patient of the initial treatment plan
- Complete bio‑psychosocial assessment.
- Provide individual and group counseling services; direct hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
- Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible.
- Respond as needed to patient grievances and complaints.
- Develop aftercare and discharge plans.
- Other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Behavioral Science
- Substance abuse counseling experience preferred.
- Demonstrated positive, non‑judgmental attitude toward patient population.
- Understanding of an EMR system.
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
Salary ranges from $24.99 to $27.77 an hour. The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on experience, education, specialty, and training.
