Under the direction of the District Manager and the Area Director, repairs and overhauls trucks and other automotive vehicles assigned to make sure that the fleet is in DOT compliance.

• Repairs or replaces parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings using mechanic's hand tools
• Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps
• Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks using lathes, shapers, drill presses and welding equipment
• Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel
• Relines and adjust brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solder leaks in radiator
• Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts
• Replaces and adjusts headlights and installs and repairs accessories such as heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers
• Raises vehicle, using hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to the underside of the vehicle
• Removes unit, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches, and hoist
• Disassembles unit and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and thickness gauges
• Maintains repair and maintenance records for all assigned vehicles

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license, CDL
• Truck Mechanic Certification from accredited training institution
• Five+ years’ experience as a truck mechanic

The pay for this position ranges from $34.00 to $35.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales depending on position.
