Our core client base consists of Accountancy Practices ranging from Big 4, Top 10 & Mid‑Tier firms through to independent regional firms and sole traders.

Circa £25,000 - £32,000 (Dependent on Experience) + Excellent Benefits. This role will follow a hybrid working pattern, typically requiring three days per week in the Hertfordshire office, with occasional attendance at a London office as required.

Public Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a leading UK accountancy & advisory group who are looking to recruit a Private Client Tax Assistant to join their growing Private Client team in Hertfordshire.

This firm supports the SME market with a full service offering including Audit, Accounts & Advisory, Tax, Payroll, Corporate Finance and Business Recovery. • Assisting with preparation and filing of personal tax returns
• Supporting senior colleagues with client portfolio work and day‑to‑day compliance matters
• Dealing with basic Capital Gains Tax issues and HMRC queries
• Liaising with clients, banks and other third parties
• Attending client meetings and taking notes/actions as needed
• Data gathering and producing internal management information
• Supporting proposals, billing activity and WIP review
• Undertaking tax research for Managers / Partners

• Previous personal tax / private client experience in a UK practice environment is essential
• ATT qualified is beneficial but not essential
• Familiarity with tax software and the preparation of basic computations/returns
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and professional client manner
• Organised, proactive and able to manage workload effectively
• A team player with enthusiasm and a desire to develop in Private Client Tax
