Senior Director, Engineering and Maintenance

Key Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, coordinate, monitor and review engineering projects, ensuring proper condition and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Responsible for Engineering, Maintenance (Production and Facilities), Commissioning & Qualification, Automation, Reliability, and Calibration Departments, contractors, vendors and consultants utilized to accomplish objectives.
• Plan, design and coordinate the development of specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation protocols, change control procedures, drawings and other documents required for equipment and facilities.
• Prepare project cost estimates, annual, capital, expense and department budgets, project schedules and justification documents.
• Develop short‑term and long‑term plans and programs, with supporting budget requests and financial estimates to meet departmental objectives.
• Implement and monitor approved budgets and timelines against plan.
• Establish departmental objectives, procedures and policies governing performance of assigned activities.
• Issue annual objectives to immediate subordinates and monitor progress.
• Ensure records of facilities, preventative maintenance, equipment and systems are properly maintained.
• Use efficient practices, provide adequate training of personnel, contractors and consultants, and ensure compliance with federal, state, local codes and GMP.
• Direct and advise Production Engineering, Maintenance and Calibration personnel in evaluation of problems, recommending corrective action, implementing solutions and ensuring compliance.
• Select, coach, counsel and develop subordinates, ensuring proper training and management.
• Act as company representative when dealing with insurance underwriter and other regulatory agencies.
• Facilitate good working relationships among subordinates and with other departments.
• Provide support for installation, modification and maintenance of plant security systems and production equipment safety systems.
• Collaborate with Head of Operations and manufacturing on identification of new technology and development/modification of processes, equipment, facilities, new and existing products.
• Develop and communicate a site master plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience preferred. A combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
• Knowledge of engineering theory and ability to apply it in a practical manner.
• Proficiency with computers, printers, plotters, test equipment, drafting tools, AutoCAD, spreadsheets and word processing.
• Superior communication skills required. Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English.
• Previous management experience with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and creating a positive work environment.
