Location: Buder Elementary School, St. Ann, Missouri

Qualifications: Missouri Elementary Education certification is required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required.

Reports to: Principal

Responsibilities
  • Creates a flexible elementary program and classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth.
  • Establishes effective rapport with students to motivate skill, attitude, and knowledge development.
  • Demonstrates appropriate preparation for classroom instruction.
  • Holds high expectations and serves as a facilitator of student learning.
  • Organizes and uses various teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology.
  • Assesses student progress, provides feedback to students and parents, and adjusts instruction as needed.
  • Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
  • Teaches the district curriculum as outlined in curriculum documents.
  • Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in the field.
  • Maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
  • Develops classroom rules and maintains fair and just order.
  • Manages discipline in accordance with regulations and policies.
  • Develops strategies to manage student behavior, encouraging responsibility.
  • Prepares appropriate precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Demonstrates respectful, cooperative, and caring manner.
  • Assumes responsibility for school functioning, including non‑instructional assignments.
  • Maintains complete records as required by law and policy.
  • Collaborates with professionals, participates in meetings, conferences, training workshops, and committees.
  • Pursues professional growth through development opportunities, postgraduate education, and professional organizations.
  • Actively participates in the performance‑based teacher evaluation process.
  • Supervises students during after‑school activities.
  • Attends meetings outside normal school day, e.g., professional development, parent conferences, open houses.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
Essential Functions
  • Requires daily classroom management attendance.
  • Requires travel to sites within the building.
  • Interprets test results and printed reports for decision‑making.
  • Operates specialized equipment such as computers, copiers, DVDs.
  • Provides written procedures for plan preparation and implementation.
  • Provides instruction and supervises student learning activities.
  • Evaluates student performance, corrects papers, supervises testing, and reports progress.
Physical Demands
  • Exerts 20 to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Exerts 10 to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Exerts 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Successful student teaching experience and/or prior teaching experience.
  • Missouri Teaching Certification at the Elementary Level.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
