Position: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher - Pattonville Early Childhood Center - 2026-2027
Location: St. Ann

Early Childhood Special Education Teacher – Pattonville Early Childhood Center –  (One-Year Position)

Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team. Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the director of early childhood, facilitate student achievement and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized learning and small group instruction.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning.
  • Modifies instructional methods based on individual student needs.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge of developments in the educational field by attending staff meetings, professional development, and by conducting action research.
  • Keeps accurate and complete student records related to assessment, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school/district policies and establishes/maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
  • Coordinates with other staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and attends professional development.
  • Selects and utilizes appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.
  • Act as case manager/carrier for assigned students.
  • Collaborates and schedules IEP meetings with required members.
  • Participate as a member of the IEP team and provide input to the IEP Goals.
  • Assess students and write individual educational plans (IEPs) to meet the individual student needs.
  • Provide students with specialized instruction based on their unique needs resulting from their identified disabilities.
  • Monitors individual student's progress utilizing data that reflects student performance and adjusts instruction as needed based on analysis of the data.
Additional Duties
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood.
Travel Requirements
  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and concepts.
  • Ability to use learning software applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri Early Childhood Special Education B-3 Certification.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

FLSA Status:
Exempt

Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year‑by‑year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026‑2027)

Candidates who have signed a contract for the 2026–2027 school year should consult with their current district to confirm eligibility for release prior to applying.
