Job Description
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) you will support plasma center operations, report to the Plasma Center Manager, and work under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues. You will apply your knowledge of plasma collection regulations and assist with environmental, health and safety compliance.
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions in accordance with SOPs, manage medical emergencies, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings and medical guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent, or graduate‑equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state licensing.
- Current state license (Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
Hourly wage range: $33.44‑$45.98, dependent on qualifications.
