Maintenance Journeyman - Painter and Maintenance Technician
Summary Of Position Function
Organize, plan, and complete painting related work throughout the district. Perform basic painting, wall repairs, and roof repairs to district buildings for the maintenance and grounds department. Assists trade-specific journeymen and other crafts personnel with carpentry, grounds, and locksmith work. Although each maintenance journeyman will be assigned specific areas of responsibility, they will operate as a team to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the maintenance shop.

- Salary Grade M50
- $21.53 - $35.95 per hour
- Pay rate is determined by years of experience

- Can organize and mark various parking lot surfaces
- Secures paint and supplies according to district guidelines
- Coordinates district painting projects
- Disposes of paints, stains, and related hazardous materials
- Designs painting configurations/lines on sports fields for programs such as baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey, marching band, flags, etc.
- Perform general maintenance and building upkeep as assigned
- Load, unload, and move furniture, equipment, fixtures, and other items as needed
- Provide emergency troubleshooting, repair & support
- Participates in snow removal by driving snowplow vehicles and other snow removal equipment
- Responds to emergency calls at night and on weekends
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the facility managers.

Qualifications Desired- Capable of operating painting equipment, applying textured finishes, and performing repairs and patching on various types of walls, wall coverings, and ceilings
- Knowledgeable in the disposal of paints, stains, and other hazardous materials
- Ability to identify sources of roof leaks and perform or coordinate repairs, including patching a variety of commercial roofing systems
- Varied work experience and knowledge of professional trades and crafts
- Ability to operate a variety of shop tools, saws, grinders, key machines, motor vehicles, sprayers, power tools, forklifts, skid loader, and snow plowing equipment
- Effective use of computer applications
- Knowledge and technical skills directly related to this position
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and accomplish multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to read blueprints for various trades
- Availability to work rotating shifts, extended hours, short notice call-in, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Work Hours:
8 hours per day; 5 days per week
