St. Johns County Division of Animal Control is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work at our St. Johns County Pet Adoption and Holding Center located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.
Employees work in a team-oriented environment in a variety of divisions with two common goals in mind: to provide the best services to our citizens and to be the best Pet Adoption Center in North Florida.
The ideal Administrative Assistant candidate must possess St. Johns County's core values of compassion, innovation, and trustworthiness and must work well in a collaborative team environment. The purpose of this position is to provide specialized clerical support for the day-to-day operations of the Division of Animal Control and the Pet Center. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of division operations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provides customer service by answering phones, responding to voice mails and emails, and resolving customer complaints.
* Processes incoming and outgoing mail, as well as other communications.
* Assists with the preparation of documents (may include but not limited to deposit forms, minutes, correspondence, legal advertisements, notary public services, fee collection, and forms, agendas or reports for other County departments).
* Provides data entry and record maintenance for countywide database systems (both electronic and paper files) which may include but is not limited to employee records, payroll records, and the use of Countywide systems for PANs, project records, accounts payable/receivable, supply orders, work orders, PRIDE, WATS, or MIS help desk.
* May provide general support to other department staff as assigned.
* Maintains a full-time presence on the job.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.
* Minimum one (1) year of related experience with sufficient knowledge to understand the basic principles related to the major duties of the position.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
* Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
* Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
* Must be able to operate a computer.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
* Knowledge of county policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of records management principles.
* Knowledge of basic customer service practices.
* Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
* Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
* Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
* Working Conditions may include some exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions, warehouses, garages, etc.), extreme noises, odors, heights and/or dust.
* Physical Activity may include sitting, walking, lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs, kneeling, crouching, reaching, or standing.

$42,868.80 -$57,262.40
