Project Superintendent
The Project Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of all field activities related to the physical construction. He or she carries out the field operations, and thereby directs the daily progress of the work.
The jobsite workforce is made up of specialists. The Project Superintendent must continually assure adequate staffing, sufficient material supply, and complete information as necessary. The role plans for all components in advance to avoid interference with progress.
Requirements- Minimum 5 years experience as a lead superintendent in Single Family or Multi Family construction
- Relevant project history from foundations to project completion
- Experience in wood framed construction preferred
- Licensing and OSHA certifications a plus
- Generate, secure, or confirm all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the progress schedule on an ongoing basis
- Develop the progress schedule with the Project Manager
- Participate in scope reviews of bid packages to coordinate interfaces
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and administer the site utilization program, site services, and security arrangements
- Identify field‑construction and work‑sequence considerations when finalizing bid package purchases
- Monitor actual vs required performance by all parties
- Ensure jobsite and subcontractor compliance with Safety Program
- Determine whether subcontractors provide sufficient workforce and hours to meet performance commitments
- Monitor purchasing and project engineering functions to ensure timely processing of subcontracts, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes
- Direct and motivate field staff with positive leadership
- Establish a field office and maintain a clean project site
- Identify changes, conflicts, and keep within scope
- Verify field control measures and manage material deliveries
- Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to assess progress, quality, and safety
- Prepare daily reports, job diaries, narratives, and other documentation as required
