We are seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Construction Inspector to support field inspection activities on land development projects, focusing on site development and utility infrastructure. This role will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career professional looking to gain hands‑on experience in grading, drainage, roadway, and utility construction.
Job Type: Full‑time
Responsibilities- Perform field inspections on site development and utility construction projects, including earthwork, grading, and stormwater systems.
- Inspect water and sanitary sewer installation.
- Inspect roadways, sidewalks, and paving.
- Verify construction activities are compliant with approved plans and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards and best practices.
- Document daily field activities through inspection reports, photos and field notes.
- Coordinate with contractors to address deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Assist with quantity tracking and material verification.
- Observe and document testing activities (compaction, concrete, asphalt, etc.).
- Support project teams by communicating field conditions, issues, and progress updates.
- Attend project meetings or CDD meetings as needed, including after‑hours if required.
- Potential cross‑training with other departments or field work with other departments as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0–3 years of experience in construction inspection or land development.
- Basic knowledge of site development construction practices and utility installation (water, sewer, storm).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with inspection or construction management software is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
