As a 1st Grade Teacher, you will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge.
How You Will Impact Education
- Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the company's philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted courses of study.
- Creates purposeful and effective lesson plans with strategies that maximize time on task.
- Presents subject matter to maximize learning opportunities with real-world, application-based examples.
- Reviews student records to understand each student's abilities and needs and maintains accurate records.
- Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
- Utilizes a variety of learning modalities and differentiates instruction within lessons.
- Uses diagnostic assessment regularly and maintains accurate student records.
- Assesses student strengths and weaknesses, provides appropriate activities, and generates progress reports as required.
- Refers students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel; assigns lessons, corrects work, and reviews oral presentations.
- Coordinates class field trips (as required).
- Prepares students for state-required achievement assessments.
- Keeps current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory; shares knowledge for curriculum improvement.
- Assists in ongoing curriculum revision and the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning; maintain positive rapport with students, and implement relevant policies governing student conduct.
- Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior aligned with CSUSA policy and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintain a clean classroom with student work on display as appropriate.
Instructional Planning
- Develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines and goals.
- Plan individual and group activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
- Prepare for classes and demonstrate preparation when requested by supervisory personnel.
- Participate in curriculum planning during designated meetings.
- Incorporate diagnostic information required by each student’s IEP into planning.
- Protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed to implement the instructional program.
School/Community Relations
- Establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
- Communicate clearly and positively with parents via appropriate channels; cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture (as required).
