The Deaf Education Research & Accessibility Specialist works for the Resource Materials and Technology Center for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, providing statewide professional learning, technical assistance, and consultation to educators and stakeholders serving deaf and hard of hearing students. The role involves developing and delivering evidence-based practices, conducting onsite and virtual consultations, researching assistive technologies, and collaborating with state agencies and educational partners.
This grant-funded position requires statewide travel and may offer partial telework opportunities.
- Professional experience in deaf education, special education, or educational services for deaf/hard of hearing students
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in language, literacy, assistive technology, and accessible educational materials
- Experience providing professional learning, technical assistance, coaching, and consultation to educators
- Ability to conduct program reviews, research, and evaluation of educational resources
- Willingness to travel statewide throughout Florida including overnight travel
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and Section 504/ADA compliance in educational settings
