Position Overview

The Branch Specialist/Universal Banker serves as a key member of the branch team, delivering exceptional customer experiences while supporting a wide range of banking transactions and sales activities. This role combines frontline service, relationship building and operational responsibilities to ensure customers receive comprehensive financial support in a welcoming, efficient environment.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Relationship Building
  • Greet customers warmly and provide personalized assistance with their banking needs.
  • Build strong relationships by understanding customer goals and recommending appropriate products and services.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routine inquiries, account maintenance and problem resolution.
Sales & Product Knowledge
  • Identify opportunities to introduce bank products such as checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and digital banking tools.
  • Conduct needs assessments and guide customers through product selection and application processes.
  • Meet or exceed individual and branch sales goals through consultative conversations and referrals.
Operational & Transactional Duties
  • Process a variety of financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, and check cashing.
  • Open and maintain consumer and small business accounts in accordance with bank policies.
  • Assist with branch operations such as vault management, cash handling, audits, and compliance tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to security procedures, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.
Digital Banking Support
  • Educate customers on digital tools including mobile banking, online banking, ATMs and self‑service options.
  • Troubleshoot basic digital access issues and guide customers through setup and usage.
Team Collaboration
  • Support branch teammates by assisting during peak times and participating in team sales activities.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and performance‑driven branch culture.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail or financial services.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
  • Comfort with technology and digital banking tools as well as willingness to learn new systems.
  • 4+ years of previous banking or financial sales experience required.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, branch operations and financial products preferred.
