About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, dynamic individual to join our team at the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs Nursing facility.

Minimum Qualifications- Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida.
- At least three years of experience as a Risk Manager, Director of Nursing, Assistant DON, or Unit Manager in a skilled nursing facility.
- Successful completion of the Level II background check and drug test.
- Florida licensure or certification as a Risk Manager (must be obtained within first year).
- Knowledge of Florida's Workers' Compensation system, law, and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
- The incumbent reports to the Nursing Home Administrator and develops and implements the facility’s risk management program.
- Collects, investigates, and analyzes root causes, patterns, or trends that could lead to compensatory or sentinel events.
- Implements corrective action and maintains data concerning patient injuries, resident grievances, claims, workers' compensation, and other risk-related data.
- Reports incidents promptly to regulatory bodies per protocol.
- Facilitates systems, policies, and procedures for collecting and analyzing risk-related information.
- Performs risk assessments, analyzes and trends risk data across departments.
- Identifies facility risk potential, develops alternatives, and drafts the Risk Management Plan of Action.
- Acts as consultant to department heads and supervisors regarding risk issues.
- Assists in completion of incident or event reports and investigations.
- Educates and trains leadership, staff, and business associates in the risk management program and responsibilities.
- Leads, facilitates, and advises departments in designing risk management programs.
- Maintains data on patient injuries, resident grievances, claims, workers' compensation, and risk data.
- Implements corrective actions where appropriate.
- Participates in or facilitates committees concerning risk management, safety, quality improvement, and quality assurance monthly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is in the Career Service system.
