Position: Cat Scan Technologist I | CAT Scan | Full-time | Evenings

Overview

The Cat Scan Technologist I operates imaging equipment and performs diagnostic x‑ray examinations as ordered by the physician and under the physician’s guidance. The technologist assists in preparing operating/procedure rooms, documents the duration of radiation exposure, and records test results in the patient’s chart.

Work schedule:

1:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately perform radiological/CT exams to department standards including technique, positioning, protocols, and transducer utilization.
  • Ensure quality of CT scans and images presented to the radiologist for interpretation and consult with the physician to obtain optimal scans.
  • Ensure patient safety, including pregnancy identification, shielding documentation, and review of safety questionnaire prior to scanning.
  • Inform patients about procedures and provide post‑procedure instructions. Prepare consent forms and other demographic data for patients receiving treatment.
  • Coordinate both inpatient and outpatient studies and ensure procedures are billed correctly.
  • Provide safe transportation for patients to and from requesting service areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds. Assist patients with wheelchairs and stretchers, lock wheels properly, clean equipment, and report repairs needed.
  • Perform additional radiographic/CT procedures with proficiency as necessary.
  • Coordinate the selection and use of supplies, minor equipment, X‑rays, reports, and files between departmental units to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Prepare contrast material, verify physician orders, and administer IV contrast using proper sterile technique. Use table pads, sheets, side rails/locks to ensure patient comfort and safety. Accurately mark initial side markers.
  • Collaborate in departmental and hospital‑wide QA/QI programs as requested.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management within the job scope.
Qualifications

Graduate Radiologic Technology. Completion of formal Radiological Technology training from an AMA‑approved school for a degree or diploma as a Certified Radiology Technologist.

Experience Requirements
  • 0–1 year of CT Scan Technologist experience.
  • Preference for candidates with at least 6 months of CT experience.
Certificates / Licenses / Registration
  • Radiologic Technologist License in Florida.
  • American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) credential – either RT or CT.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; BLS required within 30 days of hire, provided by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Additional Requirements

Must pass the ARRT Advanced Examination for CT certification within one year of employment as a CT Technologist. Provide documented training and experience in CT and operating CT equipment.
