Overview

This is a responsible position that provides operational support and assistance for FDOH‑SJC operations Environmental Public Health (EPH) department. The position works closely with the Environmental Administrator and the Operations Analyst II, and assists throughout the agency as needed.

Key Responsibilities

EPH programs and support functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomedical Waste Program
  • Tattoo Program
  • Body Piercing Program
  • Tanning Facilities Program
  • Group Care Program
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Program
  • Swimming Pools and Bathing Places Program
  • On‑site Sewage Tank Disposal System Program – (OSTDS)
  • Limited Use Water and Well Surveillance Program
  • Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Parks Program
  • Beaches Monitoring Program
  • QS Program

Support functions for EPH may include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering phones and assisting clients
  • Working with clients, contractors and public
  • Providing excellent customer service in‑person and on the phone
  • Monitoring and processing EPH emails
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail appropriately and creating certified mail
  • Processing payments appropriately and timely, per policy
  • Filing paperwork
  • Documenting in and maintaining any necessary tracking logs
  • Assisting with projects and deliverables
  • Participating in meetings and trainings
  • Completing public health requests

Other duties performed for FDOH‑SJC include:

  • Back up for administrative front desk and processing mail
  • Providing support for all FDOH‑SJC projects and deliverables
  • Coordinating and participating in meetings and trainings as requested
  • Completing meeting minutes and follow‑up as needed
  • Providing excellent customer service on the telephone and in person

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of administrative practices
  • Skilled in time management and multitasking
  • Skilled in computer usage and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license.

Other requirements:

  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty includes work in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man‑made or natural.

Working hours:

(A) Daily from 8:00 to 5:00 (B) Total hours in workweek 40 (C) Explain any variation in work (split shift, rotation, etc.). This position requires daily in‑office or field work.
