Position: Nurse Manager | 5TH FL Med-Surg | FT

Overview

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and professional nursing practice of assigned unit(s). Responsible for hiring and firing of nursing personnel, periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Responsible for cost center(s) budgets. Supervises RN's, Patient Care Associates, Clerical Associates and other clinical support personnel. Coaches and mentors the Assistant Nurse Manager, if applicable, for succession planning.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree
- New hires effective August 1, 2013, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing. For those responsible for the following departments, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced by 07/01/2019. New hires and transfers are required to have AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced within 6 months of hire or transfer.

2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), Labor and Delivery (653100), Prenatal Diagnostic Program (653200), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).

Preferred Education

Master's in Nursing or related field.

Necessary Skills
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Demonstrated management skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards and other regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and the Collective Bargaining Unit Contract.
Required

Licensure/Certification s
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida-BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments:
    Arrhythmia Service (733210), Cardiac Holding Area (730501), Cardiology Interv North (733280), Code Blue Team (626003), CVICU (730400), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), FC Gastroenterology (703700), Float-ICU Flex (626000), Invasive Cardiology Lab (733200), MICU (700400), Operating Room (633000), Ophthalmology (633490), Outpatient Surgery Center-FC (633400), PACU (633600), Pain Management Center (750500), PICU (660401), Preop (633610), Radiology Special Procedures (603600), and Trauma Center (713100).
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments: 3 ICU-North (620480), 5N CCU (730301), Cardiac Rehab (733100), Non Invasive Cardiology North (733080), Noninvasive Cardiac Lab (733000), SICU (630400), 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), 3N Obstetrics (650300), 3S Gyn-CC (650301), Labor and Delivery (653100), Normal Nursery-CC (653000), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).
  • For those responsible for the following departments, effective 07/01/2018, all current employees are required to have ACLS by 07/01/2019. 2 L&D/Womens Srvcs-North TA (650380), 3N Obstetrics (650300), 3S Gyn-CC (650301), Labor and Delivery (653100), Normal Nursery-CC (653000), and Womens Acute Care Center (653500).
  • PALS from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments:
    Code Blue Team (626003), Emergency Department (713200), Emergency Department Admin (710103), Emergency Department North (713280), Float-ICU Flex (626000), Operating Room (633000), Ophthalmology (633490), Outpatient Surgery Center-FC (633400), PACU (633600), PICU (660401), Pre Op (633610), Radiology Special Procedures (603600), SICU (630400), and Trauma Center (713100).
  • NRP is required within 6 months of hire or transfer for those responsible for the following departments:
