This position spends more than 50% of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation, and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage and complete timesheets.
This is a professional and responsible position that conducts activities and manages programs in the Environmental Public Health (EPH) department based on state and local codes.
This position primarily oversees and completes activities related to:
* Food Hygiene Program
* Biomedical Waste Program
* Body Piercing Program
* Group Care Facilities Program
* Migrant Labor Camps/Residential Housing and Field Sanitation Facilities Program
* Tanning Facilities Program
* Tattooing Program
* Body Piercing Program
Activities related to the above programs include but are not limited to:
* Coordinating, reviewing and conducting inspections and site plans per policy
* Reviewing and issuing permits
* Assigning, reviewing, investigating and following up on complaints related to EPH programs
* Providing education and interpretation regarding state and local codes
* Conducting staff training
* Reviewing and approving inspections, permits, and plans
* Initiating and/or approving enforcement actions
* Attending and participating in necessary internal and external meetings
* Working with FDOH-St. Johns Public Information Officer on necessary advisories or public notifications
* Monitoring reports assessing permit issuance and inspection completion status and ensuring that high quality work is being completed.
Provides coverage back-up oversight/supervision for EPH facility related programs. These programs include:
* Beach Monitoring Program
* Mobile Home and Recreational Vehicle Parks Program
* Well Surveillance Program
* Public Swimming Pools Program
* Healthy Beaches Program
* Limited Use Water Program
* Onsite Sewage Tank Disposal System (OSTDS) Program
* Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) Program
Completes data entry as necessary, maintains records and files of inspections, investigations, and reports in an organized and professional manner utilizing Environmental Health Database, and/or other automated programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Qualifications:
