This is a full time position. Monday-Thursday 8:00 am-6:30 pm.
Must have current valid Florida medical assistant’s certification.
Responsibilities- Collect patient samples for diagnostic tests using venipuncture, swabs, finger sticks and other methods.
- Log all lab encounters.
- Perform CLIA waived tests as directed by provider.
- Log other tests, such as sexually transmitted diseases, for government record keeping.
- Pull lab results charts for provider review.
- Perform diagnostic tests and screens as contracted, including DNA tests and drug screens.
- Correct diagnostic codes as needed for insurance billing.
- Maintain lab manifest.
- Collect and store specimens for outside testing.
- Assist nurses or providers with procedures and examination procedures as needed.
- Perform CLIA waived laboratory procedures.
- Perform specific functions in conjunction with health assessment such as vital signs, weight, height, etc.
- Assist in maintaining stock for examining rooms/lab and general maintenance of examining rooms/lab.
- Serve as a patient educator by providing information on specific health care issues.
- Document accurately in the medical record.
