The Public Health Services Manager B-SES leads the Environmental Public Health department at the Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County, overseeing programs in food hygiene, biomedical waste, body piercing, group care facilities, migrant labor camps, tanning facilities, tattooing, beach monitoring, mobile home parks, wells, swimming pools, and onsite sewage systems. The position spends over 50% of time on supervisory responsibilities including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff, and also conducts inspections, reviews permits, investigates complaints, and ensures compliance with state and local codes.
KeyQualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental health, environmental science, or physical or biological science
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Certified in Onsite Sewage Tank Disposal System (OSTDS) and Food Safety and Sanitation (Certified Environmental Health Professional - CEHP) within six months of employment
- Ability to supervise staff and manage supervisory responsibilities
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions and lift 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively and review site and floor plans
