In this role the Histology Technologist will perform the following duties:

• Perform complex histological procedures to prepare tissue specimens for Pathologist examination and diagnosis.
• Receive, accession, handle, embed, cut, and stain surgical and cytological specimens.
• Perform special stains and prepare cytology specimens for microscopic evaluation.
• Identify, investigate, and expedite specimen, accessioning, or technical issues that may impact diagnosis.
• Perform and document quality control procedures and take corrective action when results fall outside established standards.
• Operate, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate records and organized files of specimens, tissue blocks, and slides.
• Monitor inventory and supplies and communicate reordering needs to leadership.
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols, regulatory requirements, policies, and quality standards.
• Train and provide instruction to students and staff on histology techniques, laboratory procedures, and safety.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership.

Required:

Associate's degree in Histology/Clinical Lab Science

Required:

Florida Histology Technologist license or eligible for licensure
