Sign Language Interpreter - VRS - Part Time - St. Augustine, Florida

Job Summary

Part‑time Interpreting position providing Sign‑to‑Voice and Voice‑to‑Sign services for Sorenson Communications.

• Salary Range: $25-$60 per hour (depending on location, education, and certifications)
• Hourly wage may increase during premium shifts
• Earn CEUs and receive annual certification, testing, and membership/licensure reimbursement up to 100% based on average hours worked

• Opportunities to transfer and serve as a visiting interpreter at any Sorenson center across the U.S. or Canada
• Eligibility to pass the required skills assessment

• Minimum 10 hours of interpreting services per month
• Available hours Monday‑Saturday, 7 am‑7 pm MT
• Initially required to work at least one shift on Monday, Friday, or Saturday
• Premium shifts offer increased hourly wage

• Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
• Adhere to Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
• Follow Sorenson Communications attendance policy
• Complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
• Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet industry demands
• Quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
• Work effectively in a team environment, providing and receiving support from colleagues
• Operate under oversight that may include call monitoring, mentoring, and evaluations
• Enhance interpreting skills through continued education and training
• Willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis

• Diploma or higher in high school or a related field
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

• 3 years’ experience as an interpreter preferred (previous VRS experience preferred)

• Pass required skills assessment
• Interpreter certification required by local regulations
• Basic technical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic, highly regulated, customer‑service focused environment
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and related components
