Position: Manufacturing Technician I

Summary

The Manufacturing Technician I supports production operations by ensuring engineering documentation is accurate, responding to technical issues on the floor, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives. This technical role acts as a bridge between Process Engineering and Production, helping to maintain quality standards, improve efficiency, and support training efforts within the manufacturing cells.

This role also supports plant safety, product quality, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement projects within the Harness Assembly cell. This position requires strong collaboration and organizational skills, as well as excellent training, mentorship and leadership skills.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work Order Review & Release:
    Inspect each Work Order and complete the associated Engineering Checklist prior to release to Production, includes EAR review and completion supporting production orders, as applicable.
  • Tooling Management:
    Manage storage, release and inspection of tooling during work order release to production to ensure calibration is up-to-date and proper tool is being utilized. Responsible for coordinating with Quality on tooling calibration and communication with Engineering team on replacement needs.
  • Production Support:
    Respond promptly to Andon calls requiring Engineering assistance and provide real-time support to resolve issues, including raw materials request via Shop Vue
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer:
    Support minor training opportunities within the cell as needed. Identify additional training needs and engage the Value Stream Team (VST) for support.
  • Daily Operations & Communication:
    Attend Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings to discuss gaps in Production Work Orders and provide Engineering support as required.
  • Material Review Board (MRB) Participation:
    Attend MRB meetings, contribute to root cause analyses, and support corrective actions. Ensure lessons learned are communicated back to the cell.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities to improve production velocity and reduce quality defects. Collaborate with the VST to communicate and implement improvements.
  • Documentation Accuracy:
    Provide updates to Production Guides (PGs) to improve clarity and accuracy, including redlining documents as needed. Work together with the Engineering team, supporting documentation updates, as needed.
  • In-Process Inspection:
    Validate first piece is accurate per customer requirements and IPC standards
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
    Identify and recommend equipment, tools, jigs, and fixtures to support quality and efficiency of builds. Collaborate with Engineering within the cell to implement DFM principles.
  • First Build Oversight:
    Oversee the first build in the cell to ensure PG accuracy and prevent quality issues due to knowledge gaps. Includes EAR submission for First Production Builds with the goal to improve industrialization of parts and FPY for subsequent builds.
  • Leadership:
    Champions positive leadership and mentoring through development of ACIT team members skills
  • Support NPI builds to meet customer needs and meet tight schedule expectations, as applicable
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, e.g., vocational training, is required.
  • Minimal 2 years of Assembly harness experience required.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries preferred
  • IPC-620 and J-STD certifications required.
Language Requirements
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language is a plus.
