Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Employee Occ Health RN or RN supervisor, performs assessments required to care for employees of UF Health. Provides care based on the Nurse Practice Act and assessed competency utilizing Employee Occupational Health established standards of care and practice.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Provides first aid care to employees and recommends further medical treatment when necessary. Documents objective employee complaints and assessments.
- Assists healthcare providers with workers’ compensation (W/C) injuries and related care as needed.
- Performs post–job offer health screenings
, including drug testing, blood draws, and immunizations. - Conducts drug testing in accordance with the organization’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy
. - Monitors employee health status and identifies and communicates any concerns or changes to the Employee Occupational Health RN or RN Supervisor.
- Documents employee responses to treatment accurately and concisely in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides education on wellness, workplace safety, and injury prevention to promote employee health.
- Maintains professional competency and ongoing development in the field of Occupational Health.
- Serves as a liaison with internal departments to coordinate care and support employees in safely returning to work.
Minimum Education
- Vocational training and graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program
- Knowledge of JCAHO standards, nursing standards, and the Florida Nurse Practice Act
- Associate’s Degree
- Minimum of two (2) years of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of LPN experience
- Experience in Employee Occupational Health
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Skills and Abilities
- Adheres to hospital policies and the Florida Nurse Practice Act when providing patient care
- Demonstrates competency in the nursing process and nursing techniques
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills when interacting with employees, patients, and healthcare professionals
