  • OPS SLPN Weekend Warrior program may be available at the rate of $25.21/hour. Eligible shifts are from Monday to Thursday 7 PM–7 AM, and all shifts Friday through Sunday. You must work at least one shift during the pay period. Not a full‑time position and does not include benefits.

The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program. From available funds, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years. Payment is made at the end of each 12‑month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.

Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

This is a continuous advertisement for a Senior Licensed Practical Nurse. Multiple positions, varied shifts, and OPS (Temporary) candidates will be selected from advertisement within six (6) months of the closing date.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid licensure as a Practical Nurse in the state of Florida.
  • Must possess a valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR).
  • Must be able and willing to work on a schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience providing practical nursing services in a long‑term health care environment (nursing home; skilled nursing; or assisted living facility).
  • Experience passing medications in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Experience in the use of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of computer applications:
    Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Position Description
  • The incumbent is responsible for providing quality care to veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status, and supervising CNAs and other supportive caregivers.
  • Administer medications and perform treatments to assigned patients. Complete documentation of needs and treatment as required by local, state, and federal requirements. Assist team members in giving care to patients. Administer direct care using nursing skills and judgment as needed. Evaluate and document the patient's condition and nursing needs. Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to meet the physical, psychological, social rehabilitative and discharge planning.

    Initiate and share in leadership of team conferences in development of individualized nursing care plans.
