The FDVA Nursing State Veterans' Nursing Homes are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
- From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
- Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant's lender.
- Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.
This is a continuous advertisement for a Registered Nurse. Multiple positions, varied shifts, and OPS (Temporary) candidates may be selected from advertisement within six (6) months of the closing date.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
- Must possess a valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR).
- Must be able and willing to work on a schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
- Three (3) years' experience providing nursing services in a long-term health care environment (nursing home; skilled nursing; or assisted living facility).
- Must have at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.
- Experience working with Matrix Care.
- Experience in staff development / conduction of in-service training.
- Knowledgeable in the use of computer applications:
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population. Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident's status, and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA and other Allied Health Care Professionals.
Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Nursing Director (DON), or designee. - Supervise and direct nursing personnel on an assigned shift. Ensure nursing personnel follow job descriptions, and the residents receive total quality nursing care. Review shift assignments and ensure that the assignments reflect the ability of the staff person to meet the specific nursing care needs of the residents. Ensure that work assignments are written, dated, and posted. Receive notices of absence when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents.
Assist with coverage on the floor as needed. - Notify Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building. Make rounds to observe residents and determine if nursing needs are being met. Observe all nursing staff giving care at least once during an eight-hour shift. Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department. Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
