RN | Nursing Float Pool | PRN

Overview

The Registered Nurse Float I provides individualized nursing care services within the standards of nursing practice: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient health education. This RN will float between the ICU, CVU and Med/Surg units.

• Perform accurate and complete assessments on patients within established time frames; request consults as indicated. Establishes and updates a patient plan of care based on periodic assessments.
• Assist with physical comfort and safety of patients (bath and linen changes, medication administration, dietary intake, and other treatments). Ensure security of personal items and report discrepancies to supervisor timely.
• Attend rounds with physicians as indicated, assist with exams, discuss patient progress. Review and implement physician orders. Provide concise bedside report of patient status to the oncoming shift.
• Demonstrate proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment; maintain adequate supply levels through accurate inventory control.
• Obtain and verify consent forms.
• Supervise and assign tasks to the staff assigned to patients.
• Recognize and intervene in life‑threatening emergencies, including administration of emergency drugs and use of defibrillator or other emergency treatment.
• Regularly evaluate patient pain level using an approved pain scale, document in medical record. Intervene timely to alleviate pain and assess effectiveness.
• Educate patients and families to pain management at UF Health St. Johns with documentation in the medical record.
• Perform QA initiatives related to core measures and Flagler Hospital Admission Standards; document patient education based on assessed needs, including family and patient preferences.

Education: Associates degree in nursing.

Required Experience: 1 year of acute care nursing.

Preferred Experience: Critical care.
