MWR Sous Chef; San Nicolas

Overview

This position is located in the Food & Beverage division of the Morale, Welfare, & Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The purpose of this position is to assist the Chef of a large catering operation or multiple facilities in planning, supervising, and coordinating the food preparation, which requires a number of items to be prepared and cooked simultaneously for varied scheduled events.

REMOTE & ISOLATED duty station - lodging is included on site at SNI only.

• Assist the Chef of a large catering operation or multiple facilities with planning, supervising, and coordinating food preparation for varied scheduled events, ensuring items are prepared and cooked simultaneously as required.

• Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background Investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
• Regularly conducts inspections of all areas of food preparations, dining facilities and storing area, which requires much walking, standing, and stooping.
• Conducts inventory of food and supplies on hand requiring long hours of standing, reaching, and crouching.
• At times exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking.
• Danger of falling on floors that are slippery from spilled foods or liquids, burns from steam or hot foods and cuts from knives.
• REMOTE and ISOLATED duty station- lodging is included ON SITE at SNI only.
