Job Purpose:
The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in retail to drive client service, sales, and leadership within the store environment. The role requires acting as a leader in the absence of the Store Leader and coaching the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while achieving business results.
- Client & Service Excellence:
Develop clientele through coaching the team on proactive client outreach; build and maintain relationships with new clients; partner with the Store Leader to develop business-driving initiatives that build repeat business or attract new customers; ensure associates actively utilize their client books to generate increased sales through client book reviews and outreach evaluations; ensure compliance with clientele standards and the thank you note program;
ensure all associates complete the sales training program; model and supervise the selling environment with coaching on the sales training process to ensure the highest level of customer service and sales performance. - Leadership Presence / Steward of Talent:
Assist the Store Leader in achieving financial success through improved store performance; assume Store Leader responsibilities in the manager’s absence; lead by example with personal sales goals; coach to sales plans, personal goals, and measurable statistics to maximize business; network within the community to fill open positions with minimal business impact; conduct ongoing performance reviews. - Brand Building:
Communicate the kate spade new york brand aesthetic and lifestyle to the sales team and customers; ensure brand and operating standards are met to support brand consistency; implement visual merchandising directives and maintain store presentation standards; relay merchandise sell-through, stock position, business trends, product issues, and customer feedback to the Store Leader to improve service and sales. - Operational Excellence:
Perform and supervise store opening and closing procedures, including handling funds, deposits, and security; assist with payroll budgeting through scheduling adjustments; monitor and follow company policies focusing on loss prevention; accurately manage POS transactions to maintain inventory integrity.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in a comparable retail environment
- College degree preferred
- Prior luxury goods experience preferred
- Professional sales development and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to analyze selling reports, identify trends, and react quickly to business needs
- Decision-making and conflict mediation abilities within a team environment
- Proficiency in Windows-based software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Physical requirements:
able to work store schedule including evenings and weekends; standing for extended periods; able to lift up to 40 pounds; comfortable climbing ladders
