What do Pest Control Technicians do?
The primary purpose of this role is to provide industry‑leading pest management services for residential customers, identifying and eliminating pests, applying treatments, and educating clients on prevention.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of client properties to identify signs of infestations, damage, and entry points.
- Apply approved pest control products—including chemicals, baits, and traps—while adhering to safety standards.
- Educate customers on pest prevention methods and maintenance of a pest‑free environment.
- Provide advice to reduce the risk of future infestations.
- Build and maintain customer relationships, schedule appointments, confirm visits, and support sales to current and new customers.
- Ensure all pest control equipment is properly maintained, stocked, and in good working condition.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding pest control products and safety protocols.
- Drive and safely operate a company‑provided service vehicle (routine maintenance is provided).
- Work in tight, confined spaces such as basements, attics, crawl spaces, or passageways.
- Work around animals, insects, termites, mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals.
- Operate within all local climate conditions while wearing company‑provided weather gear.
- Stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move regularly, including stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as an OSHA‑compliant respirator.
- Clean shaven face for safety reasons (rebreathers must seal properly).
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
- Required licenses/certificates as per federal, state, or local regulations (covered by the company).
- Availability to work Monday‑Friday and weekends as needed.
- Open to learning and becoming knowledgeable in all areas of pest control.
- Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math skills for instructional mixing of products.
- Customer‑facing experience preferred.
