This is a full-time, on-site JOBSITE MECHANIC / ASSISTANT role located in St Augustine, FL. The role involves supporting the OEM maintenance and repair of heavy highway construction equipment and vehicles, including assisting with inspections, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and performing basic repairs. Day-to-day tasks may include organizing tools and parts, documenting maintenance activities, following safety protocols, and helping ensure equipment is ready and available for daily operations.
The JOBSITE MECHANIC / ASSISTANT will work closely with field crews, respond to equipment needs on active job sites, and support the safe and efficient delivery of construction projects. The role requires reliable attendance, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and take on varied tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Foundational mechanical skills with the ability to assist in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Basic understanding of tools, parts, and materials used in equipment repair, with the ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
- Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices on active job sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and moving equipment and materials.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with Vendors, supervisors, and field personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or prior experience in construction equipment, automotive, or diesel mechanics is preferred.
- Reliable transportation to the St Augustine / Jacksonville, FL jobsites and willingness to work standard construction hours, with overtime.
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company standards; CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus.
- Ability to learn and follow company procedures, record maintenance activities, and support efficient, on‑time project delivery.
