Family Specialist

Devereux Florida provides Family Preservation and Child Welfare case management services for children and families referred by the Department of Children and Families, to ensure a community without abuse, neglect or abandonment. Based out of Saint Augustine and providing coverage throughout Saint Johns County, this position is responsible for helping families with resources and preventing children from entering the foster care system.

The role works very closely with Department of Children and Families to develop a family preservation plan, engage the family via team meetings, determine needs, implement resources, coordinate with support staff, and ensure necessary referrals to external providers are completed and followed up. It also maintains close contact with the assigned DCF investigator to provide updates on the family’s progress in the Family Builders Program.

Salary:
Starts at $20.25 - $23.08 / hr (rate based on education and relevant experience). This position is eligible for up to a $1,000 sign‑on bonus.

Full time;
Flexible schedule to accommodate families; not a 9‑5 position.

Field‑based position providing coverage in St. Johns County.

Bachelor's degree in social services related field required.

• Three years of experience providing direct services to at‑risk children and families.

• Three years of experience providing direct services to at‑risk children and families.

• Must complete a 3‑day new hire orientation class via MSTeams (approx. 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. each day).
• Valid FL Driver’s License required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Successfully pass pre‑employment medical screenings, including drug test and TB test.
• Successfully pass a Level 2 background screening with the State of Florida.
