Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for a growing organization in Illinois. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can bring structure, accuracy, and insight to core accounting processes while supporting business decisions. The position will oversee critical close activities, guide a small team, and help strengthen reporting, analysis, and financial controls.

Responsibilities:

- Direct the full monthly close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end reporting.

- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, and lease accounting to maintain reliable financial records.

- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, delivering clear visibility into business performance and key trends.

- Monitor compliance with debt covenant requirements and produce supporting schedules and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

- Lead margin analysis and other financial reviews to identify performance drivers and support operational decision-making.

- Evaluate and enhance accounting workflows, controls, and reporting practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.

- Manage budgeting support and contribute financial insight to planning activities as needed by leadership.

- Supervise, coach, and prioritize work for a team of three accounting professionals. Requirements
