Job Summary – About the Role

Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.

Required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of how to greet the public courteously, obtain information and provide accurate and informative guidance.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain DCFS mandated reporter certificate or obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred
  • Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer work experience in reception and customer service, including basic computer skills and knowledge.
Essential Functions of the Position Park District Cornerstones
  • Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
  • Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
  • Comply with park district policies and administrative procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Work cooperatively and harmoniously with the general public, cooperating agencies and fellow colleagues.
  • Answer telephones and greet and accommodate customers.
  • Provide information and assistance to fellow colleagues.
  • Effectively communicate orally.
  • Process memberships and registrations, collect fees, issue receipts and initiate refunds for programs and activities.
  • Notify class participants of class changes or cancellations.
  • Operate various office machines such as copier, fax, telephone, credit card reader, computer and printer as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and the ability to enforce and explain Park District and Norris Recreation Center procedures, rules and policies.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures and daily checklists.
  • Maintain an orderly and professional atmosphere at the service desk.
  • Keep the service desk and lobby areas clean and neat.
  • Distribute incoming mail and dispatch outgoing mail.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform first aid, CPR/AED and execute emergency procedures as necessary.
Marginal Functions of the Position
  • Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.
  • Set up and take down rooms for programs and rentals.
  • Assist and maintain the building cleanliness and integrity.
