Position: EMC TEST TECHNICIAN
Location: St. Charles

Job Summary

The EMC Test Engineer is responsible for testing automotive components to various Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrical test methods outlined in customer test plans and specifications. The role involves preparing technical documentation, analyzing data, and working closely with Senior EMC Test Engineers to ensure valid results and consistent application of processes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Set‑up and perform Radiated Emissions, Radiated Immunity, Conducted Emissions, Conducted Immunity, and Electrical tests.
  • Verify results from testing, calibration, and quality‑control activities.
  • Create EMC test reports.
  • Assist Design Engineering in developing test plans, test methods, laboratory procedures, and work instructions.
  • Assist in managing, maintaining, and procuring equipment.
  • Support Design Engineering with EMC development and testing activities.
  • Support laboratory accreditation activities and external laboratory test activities.
  • Assist in developing personnel training plans and materials.
  • Perform other job‑related and supporting activities as required.
Experience & Education
  • Minimum 1+ year relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certification in iNARTE EMC Technician or similar professional credential preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good knowledge of basic test and measurement equipment, including RF equipment.
  • Understanding of OEM test specifications and industry standards.
  • Ability to comprehend technical information and drawings.
  • Ability to identify and solve basic problems.
  • Ability to apply mathematical formulas using logarithms and linear units.
  • Ability to verify equipment specifications meet applicable requirements.
  • Project‑management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows/Office and test‑system control software.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Technical writing and oral communication proficiency.
Travel Required

Negligible.

Physical Demand

Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, kneel/squat, bend, and push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally tasks may involve handling or lifting over 50 lbs.
