Job Summary
This position is responsible for the design and development of automotive electronic modules and components, as well as customer liaison and inter-company coordination for new product design. The role demands attention to detail, accuracy, technical competence, and in‑depth knowledge of automotive specifications and electronics, as well as test procedures required for automotive parts.
Essential Responsibilities- Participates in new electronics product designs based on customer requests or internal development.
- Understands customer procedures and implements or adapts development to meet those requirements.
- Implements new designs into production by creating designs and following the entire development process.
- Assists the Quality Department in analyzing warranty and other customer returns.
- Works in conjunction with leadership to develop long‑range and short‑range goals for self and department.
- Prepares product or system layout and detailed schematics/drawings as required.
- Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Liaison with suppliers for quotes, specifications and samples.
- Updates and maintains current NMOA products through research and recommendation for improvement design opportunities of electronic modules and components.
- Verifies that all specifications are met.
- Supports and implements the ISO
14001 Environmental Policy as it pertains to work activities.
- 5+ years of experience designing automotive electronic modules and components.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- No certifications required.
- Power Systems experience, especially with Electronic Oil Pumps / Water Pumps (highly desired).
- Experience with modeling CAD tools such as MathCAD, LTSpice, or PSpice.
- Analog, digital, and power systems circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, and circuit simulation.
- Power dissipation calculation, worst‑case tolerance analysis, and design failure mode effect analysis.
- Electronics prototype construction and design verification testing.
- EMC compliance and design verification testing and review.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Innovative mindset and accountability for actions.
- Effective time and resource management.
- Strong communication skills.
