LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization, and they are seeking a motivated Import / International Trade Compliance Manager – Industrial Manufacturing Environment to join their team. This is a highly visible, hands‑on role designed for a true Subject Matter Expert who thrives in complex, regulated environments and is comfortable balancing strategy with execution. This opportunity is ideal for a compliance leader who has full ownership of import and export and international trade programs, understands cost and tariff exposure, and brings a proactive, risk‑mitigation mindset to global operations.
The Import / International Trade Compliance Manager will serve as the primary authority on all import, export, and international trade compliance activities. This individual will design, execute, and continuously improve compliance programs while partnering cross‑functionally with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and external partners. The role requires deep expertise in tariff strategy, HTS classification, international trade laws, and regulatory compliance, combined with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive cost containment initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Own and lead all import, export, and international trade compliance processes across North American operations.
- Act as the company’s primary SME on international trade regulations, tariff strategy, and customs compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce trade compliance policies, procedures, SOPs, and internal controls.
- Ensure accurate HTS classification, country of origin determinations, tariff application, and documentation.
- Identify and mitigate compliance gaps, tariff risk, and cost exposure across global trade activities.
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to support classification and compliance for new and existing products.
- Lead internal and external audits, respond to government inquiries, and manage broker and carrier relationships.
- Drive cost containment and savings initiatives through tariff optimization, duty management, and process improvement.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact across global operations.
- Serve as a player/coach, providing guidance, training, and leadership while remaining hands‑on.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to support operational efficiency, customer requirements, and business objectives.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in import trade compliance and international trade regulations.
- Direct hands‑on experience owning import and global trade compliance within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in tariff strategy, HTS codes, customs regulations, and international trade laws.
- Experience operating under pressure with accountability for cost containment and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor while maintaining operational ownership.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and audit management skills.
- Effective communicator capable of partnering across functions and influencing at multiple levels.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $125,000 + 10% Bonus
