Job Description
Set up, adjust, operate and maintain a variety of presses including 40" Heidelberg, Komori, 64" and 81" KBA sheetfed presses.
Responsibilities- Insert packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height, fasten reinforcing bars to offset blankets, and install plates and blankets on press cylinders, making adjustments to achieve pressure required for printing.
- Adjust press machine parts such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams using hand tools.
- Remove and replace worn rollers and adjust pressure between rollers of press using hand tools.
- Wash blankets and clean ink and ink distributing rollers and ink fountains using solvent and cleaning mechanisms on press.
- Make necessary color or register corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work.
- Require comprehensive knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials.
- Read and follow job specifications to determine press set-up materials needed to run the job successfully.
- Follow instructions to operate equipment safely and produce the desired product.
- Make adjustments to feeder and feed board (e.g., adjust suctions and blast, front and side guides and timing of the head stops).
- Perform routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment.
- Instruct and provide guidance to junior level operators.
- Knowledge of KBA large format technology highly preferred.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and make and read measurements.
- Communicate in English—read, understand, and carry out written instructions.
- Understand verbal instructions.
- Stand 100% of the entire time.
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 35 lbs frequently.
- Have thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
- Read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
- Make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls and adjustments, and perform routine operational maintenance.
- Use micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience setting up and running sheet fed presses.
- Previous experience in operating a sheet fed press equipment.
Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 $/hr Shift Differential). Front End rotation:
Monday–Wednesday OT on Sundays or Back End rotation:
Thursday–Saturday OT on Sundays. Days: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM with same rotation options.
The pay range for this role at the noted location is $29.30 to $43.50 per hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and stand‑by pay.
