Operate Special Lift; Forklift - 3rd Shift

Be a Powered Equipment Operator at Smithfield Foods. You will support safe, high‑quality food production by operating forklifts, jack lifts, high lifts, and other powered industrial trucks.

Operate forklifts, jack lifts, high lifts, and other powered industrial trucks to move product throughout the facility. These positions require specific certifications during the qualification period, and may demand overtime to meet production demands.

All applicants must be at least 18 years old. Candidates must be able to:

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Perform tasks requiring continuous or repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms
• Stand on concrete or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift
• Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts
• Use a box cutter
• Work in cold (20–40°F) or warm (over 100°F) areas
• Work in wet and humid environments
• Wear a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel‑toed safety shoes
• Use personal protective equipment in noisy areas
• Handle sanitation/cleaning chemicals
• Work near strong smells or odors
• Climb or move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms
• Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively during a shift
• Walk long distances
• Possibly require certification to operate equipment
• Handle repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs and single lifting up to 60 lbs, or use mechanical assistance
• Have close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus
