As a growing nonprofit, animal welfare organization, we are seeking to add a development & communications professional to creatively and strategically communicate our mission to the community at large via creative storytelling and engagement.
Responsibilities Include:- Support the development department by focusing on individual and major donor communications, cultivation, and stewardship.
- Evaluate, plan, and implement offsite community events, including attending events when possible, and working with the Community Engagement Manager to coordinate volunteers and adoptable animals to attend.
- Work with the Development Director and Administrative Support Coordinator to send regular stewardship pieces to different segments of donors (i.e. monthly donors, adopters, major donors, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date records of monthly Hero donors, and coordinate specific appeals and stewardship pieces to support and grow the program.
- Solicit and secure corporate donations, sponsor ships and collaboration opportunities.
- Support the Development Director and Executive Director with miscellaneous Capital Campaign assignments.
- Assist with and attend fundraising events as needed.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Associate to design and send out donor communications and stewardship pieces.
- Development and implement post-adoption support communication to adopters.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Associate on graphics, brochures, and print collateral for programs, events and campaigns.
- Other fundraising and marketing related duties as needed.
Complete a training orientation with our feline and canine departments to learn basic animal handling processes and procedures.
Be present for some special events, which may include some evenings and weekends.
- A passion for animal welfare and the Five Acres Animal Shelter mission.
- Strong attention to details and organizational skills.
- Experience in donor cultivation, stewardship, and communications.
- High functioning knowledge of standard computer programs and ability to learn new software (Donor Perfect, Shelter Luv, Better Impact, Canva and/or Adobe Design, Wordpress).
- Reliable transportation with the ability to be onsite, full-time at Five Acres.
- Comfortable with verbal and written communication with donors, adopters, visitors and community members.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to climb stairs several times per day.
- Ability to lift, scoop, bend, twist, and walk as part of essential job functions.
Work is performed in an animal shelter. Potential for exposure to environmental factors such as zoonotic diseases, temperature variations, high noise levels, animal waste, hazardous chemicals, anesthetics, sharp objects, and potential hostile persons and/or dangerous and aggressive animals
