Nidec Mobility America Corporation(NMOA) is looking for an energetic and focused Metrologist within our St. Charles, IL operations.
As a world leader in sensing and control technology, we control the most discrete functions within an automobile – from seat switches, power window switches, and instrument panel controls, towards complex user interfaces. NMOA is directly involved with automotive OEM’s and holds a leadership position within Nidec for product development with global vehicle makers.
Metrologist - CMM Programmer with PC-DMIS / Calypso Experience (Hexagon)
ObjectiveThis position is responsible to oversee and perform layout inspections on supplier/customer submissions, and full dimensional inspections on assemblies; and is supervises Quality Inspectors and supports annual layouts as provided by the supplier and/or requested by the customer. Excellence is measured by meeting or exceeding standards for test procedures, delivery time and the ability to complete all documents and procedures with thoroughness and accuracy as per the ethical and business standards set by the company and customers.
- Prepare KPI’s for SQA Manager and provide improvement plans.
- Complete layout inspection of all new and existing parts as per marked print (s) utilizing the Smart Scope, CMM and/or other measuring instruments.
- Prepare for upcoming sample submission, input math data to the Smart Scope and CMM for part measurement and is responsible for generating layout reports.
- Prepare programs for components that can also be used for incoming inspection
- Investigate customer and/or supplier’s quality issues when instructed through Request for Inspection (RFI) process
- Provides expert advice to designers to improve drawing dimensioning and tolerancing based on metrology best practices.
- Meet milestones for PPAP measurement and disposition
- Work with the other Nidec plants on governance in programming and measuring
- Provide support to by performing statistical analysis when required.
- Responsible for writing instructions on techniques not governed by geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
- Support calibration and MSA activities, through use of Smart Scope, CMM and other measurement equipment.
- Possible travel (less than 10%)
- Establishes effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Adhere to all OED procedures as applicable to this position and continuously strive to improve these procedures through approved methods.
- Other job related and support activity duties, as necessary.
2+ years’ experience or Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical Engineering)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Highly proficient knowledge/understanding of construction and operation of electro-mechanical devices, with strong mechanical aptitude
- Mastery of measuring tools, (i.e. microscopes, micrometers, electronic measuring devices.)
- High proficiency with PC applications
- Sound interpretation of engineering drawings utilizing GD&T methodologies and other technical tools.
- Expertise with ISO 9001 / IATF
16949 - Excellent supervisory skills and communication, oral and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Virtual DMIS (preferred) and/or PC-DMIS
- Formal SPC training
