Accounting Services Specialist

The Department of Revenue for St. Louis County Government is seeking two Accounting Services Specialists to join their team. This entry‑level position involves performing a variety of complex accounting support functions—including processing large‑scale transactions, analyzing account data, and preparing summary reports within accounts receivable. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, high accuracy in financial transactions, excellent customer service, and independent decision‑making skills without close manager review.

One candidate will be stationed at the North County location in NW Crossings, St. Ann, Missouri, and the other at the South County satellite office at 4544 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, Missouri. Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm CT, with possible shifts in December and January for year‑end property tax processing.

• Prepare physical deposits and balance all deposits
• Receive and process the proper payment of taxes and compile and submit related reports
• Issue waivers
• Adjust accounts
• Maintain ledgers and records of funds received to ensure the maintenance of proper records and reimbursement
• Reconcile statements with reports, spreadsheets and summaries
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

• Equivalent to three years of experience in an accounting related environment
• Preference may be given to applications with three (3) years of cash handling experience
• The work rules for the Department of Revenue require all employees to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes
