We’re looking for a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to manage all aspects of safety, health, and environmental compliance on an active federal construction project located at Whiteman Air Force Base (MO). This is a boots-on-the-ground safety leadership role with significant impact and visibility.
About the ProjectThis project involves the construction of a new fueling and fueling distribution system for the Air Force, including:
Two R-11 refueler truck panto graph fill stands with filtration systems
Overhead canopy structure for fueling equipment
Spill containment basins, high-point vents, low-point drains
Heated eyewash bottle station
Fuel issue line and control integration systems
Ground vehicle fueling station with:
One 12,000-gallon gasoline AST
Bulk-load hose-type fillstand
Concrete-paved fueling lanes and access drives
Emergency systems, pump and dispenser equipment, and electrical infrastructure
Your RoleLead and maintain a proactive safety culture on-site
Implement and enforce the site-specific safety plan
Ensure compliance with EM385-1-1, OSHA, and client safety protocols
Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, orientations, and inspections
Investigate and document incidents, manage corrective actions
Maintain all site safety records, SDS logs, and Highwire inspections
Interface with MEB leadership, subcontractors, and federal representatives
What You BringOSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (required)
EM385 Fall Protection (preferred or willing to obtain)
STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction) certification or ability to earn within 90 days
Strong knowledge of OSHA/EM385 and hazard mitigation practices
Prior experience on active construction sites (federal project experience preferred)
Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
Strong leadership, organization, and documentation skills
